- You WILL learn to love nap / bed time… As children we are stupid for wanting to stay up all night and not sleep or nap during the day because when we become adults and our days are SO busy that we don’t get a chance to just take an hour nap, we get cranky.
- Nothing good ever comes from calling 911 because you’re bored and wondering if they’ll actually come, OR hanging up to see if they call you back…I know this from experience.
- When your parents say that they want to meet the friends that you’re going out with, let them. Parents have this like 6th sense, especially moms, and I didn’t like it then when my mom said “you’re not going out with that person” but I understand now, and that person turned into a crack smoking/dealing adolescent with a big criminal record, so…again… 6th sense…
- Relationships are amazing and should be treasured. I learned first hand that they come and go too quickly and at times, tomorrow doesn’t come for some friends and then they’re gone. Tell your friends you love them, or maybe that you care, because at the end of the day, the people in our lives matter the most.
- Don’t be afraid to fail because failure is the best lesson. Big or small, nothing greater than a lesson comes from failure.
- Say no. It’s pretty self explanatory. If you don’t want to do it, then don’t. If someone asks why, you don’t owe them an explanation.
- Grudges do not make you feel better so just let go of the shit that upset you. Within reason…I mean some people just deserve to be shunned with a good grudge or 2 but it doesn’t make you feel good.
- Knowledge really IS power and in SO many different ways.
- Accept hugs. If you’re sad or hurt and someone wants to hold you, let them. Touching heels.
- “this too shall pass” is a quote that means a lot. It will always pass, whatever it is, it will always pass. Maybe not overnight, but it will.
- Don’t be afraid to cry or be vulnerable because vulnerability shows strength. People like to tell you that crying is for the weak but it’s the exact opposite. You’re allowing yourself to open up and feel. That takes strength.
- Love hurts and I don’t mean break ups. Those hurt too. Love is amazing, and I’ve learned to understand that love opens so many doors to so many things but it also brings growth, change and at times that can hurt, but don’t ever regret it (which brings us to my next point)
- Don’t ever regret the choices you make because you make every choice for a reason. If you’re not new to my blog (or my Instagram) you’d know that I truly believe everything happens for a reason which means the decisions we make, are made for a reason. They all lead to the place you are today, and even if they weren’t the best of decisions, they’ve still taught you something…Even teaching you to not make the same decision again.
- Makeup is my art. I don’t think I NEED to wear makeup, but it makes me feel good inside and it’s like creating art with my face!
- The food you eat really can affect how you feel. Literally. Dairy gives me migraines but I love cheese…
- Honesty will heal you and I don’t always mean with others, this time I mean with yourself. Denial will hurt you so it’s important to be honest with yourself about everything.
- Put yourself out there and don’t be shy with people who don’t know you! They don’t know you so what have you got to lose?!
- Your words have a cause and affect – they can hurt someone or you can use them to lift people up. You should chose to use them well…
- Make every day special because tomorrow is never promised and you can’t control any of it. So much has happened in my personal life that have happened that I couldn’t control which included some near death shit and it’s crazy how quick your life can change…
- Don’t discuss the following in public or social situations…Religion…Abortion…or sexuality/gender roles…it…never…ends…well…at least not for me.
- Don’t be afraid to have an opinion (which sounds like a contradiction to the above noted but I have a point)
- It is okay if you change your mind about what you want to do when you grow up. Some people are ass holes and will tell ya “you spent all that money to bail and do something else?” as a matter of fact YES I DID…it doesn’t concern you but yes, my heart followed a different path.
- Which yes brings us here. FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING…your heart, your bliss, your dreams, your gut…do it…not your moms, or your dads or your boyfriends… YOUR’S…
- A house is not a home…a house is the shell you grow love and family in, and home is where the heart is. It doesn’t have to be with a partner or spouse, it can be with your best friend or your sibling, but whoever it’s with, home is wherever they are.
- It is possible to find the love of your life at the age of 16…I did and we’re still together and we’re not bored of each other (which YES everyone asks when they find out we’ve been together for so long).
- There is no timeline that you need to follow when it comes to your life, you need to let life take its course and let it flow. It’ll all fall together at its own time.
- STOP COMPARING... this is the last one because it’s the most important lesson I’ve had to teach myself…Stop comparing yourself to your friends, or other people in your life, especially when it comes to life. Like the above says, your life will fall into place when it does and just because your friends are further along, it doesn’t mean anything…everyone goes at their own pace.
